Residential Projects
Some of our other work through the years
Transformations Worth Telling
At LK Design, every home tells a story—and we’re lucky enough to be the authors of a few remarkable chapters. Here are some of our favorite past projects that remind us why design is never just about walls and finishes, but about breathing new life into the spaces people call home.
The Bathroom Reimagined
What was once a bathtub against a bright red wall became a walk-in shower fit for two. We took a bold step and brought the two-toned cabinet trend—usually reserved for kitchens—into this primary bathroom. The result? A modern-meets-traditional mix, grounded by subway tile installed in a vertical pattern, a striking feature wall behind the vanity, and thoughtfully added storage. It wasn’t just a renovation—it was a reinvention.
The Loft with Three Lives
An open loft with two homemade closets could have felt like a design dilemma, but for us it was an opportunity. By dividing the space into three purposeful zones—a gym, a media room, and an office—we gave each corner its own identity. Three unique wallpapers, a custom gallery wall, and the addition of architectural elements like new walls and custom doors turned what was once awkward into something intentional, stylish, and practical.
The Familiar Floor Plan, Reinvented
Sometimes, the same blueprint shows up again—but never twice in the same way. We’ve worked with this particular floor plan before, but this time we combined rustic charm with modern elegance. The star feature? A custom fireplace wrapped in mother-of-pearl tile, flanked by shelving that turned function into art. The kitchen and family room became more than just shared spaces—they became a statement of warmth and refinement.
The Farmhouse Kitchen with a Twist
For a true farmhouse family in Western Howard County, function was just as important as charm. We concealed necessary soffits with clever cabinetry, expanded the island’s utility, and introduced a cozy custom banquette. Paired with a grid wall and fireplace, the design wasn’t about changing the farmhouse character—it was about honoring it while making it work even better for everyday life.
