Kitchen Paradise in Howard County

10 years ago, a house was purchased.

9 years ago, the dining, living, and family room floors were upgraded. Originally white carpet. The original floors still ran through the foyer and straight into the kitchen.

8 years ago, on a total whim, the cabinets were painted. The backsplash had already been completed on the walls and island, because layering projects over time is apparently a personality trait.

And today, the kitchen is officially finished.

Just like so many renovation stories, here is what we learned along the way:

Analysis paralysis is real. The fear of making the wrong decision can be paralyzing. It feels terrifying. But here is the secret. There are no wrong decisions. Just different versions of beautiful.

Some decisions are harder than others. The original dream kitchen was stunning. It also came with a larger price tag. De scoping is not failure, it is strategy. And guess what. It still looks dang good.

Kitchens are the heart and soul of the home. Renovations take time. A solid microwave and a strong relationship with DoorDash are not luxuries. They are survival tools.

Things will go wrong. They just will. The magic is not in avoiding problems. It is in how they are resolved.
