This space used to be wide open. Now it works overtime. We added a ghost door, a sliding Murphy bookcase, layered in blue botanical built ins, and yes… a hammock on a track system hiding in the closet. Because adulthood is hard enough. Your house should be fun.

Design that solves problems and sparks a little joy along the way.

After and before
This week was a doozy. I was fully prepared for sofas too large for doorways and beds too big for stairwells. That was the story I had written in my head.
Instead, we wrapped two completely different rooms and somehow made them both make perfect sense.
The first floor living room is no longer “open.” We closed it in on purpose. The clients wanted a true guest room, a cozy reading spot with their long loved hammock, and a home for Nemo and friends. So we reworked the openings, added a ghost door for flexibility, tucked in a sliding Murphy bookcase, and hid a track mounted hammock inside the closet.
Guest room. Book nook. Hidden hammock lounge. Aquarium haven. All in one.
Upstairs, the bedroom got the statement treatment. Wallpaper, paint, furniture that knows it belongs. Bold but grounded.

Oh to be a kid again. What would you do? Swing in

Oh to be a kid again.

What would you do? Swing in a hammock. Stay up way too late watching super scary movies. Sing your favorite song like no one is listening.

This room is not for kids.
It is for the kid in all of us.
We are not done yet, but just wait until next week.

When we first walked through this space, we were handed what felt like an impossible quest. A hammock was a must. The fish tank had to stay because the fish must be saved. And privacy mattered, because this space is also meant to function as a guest suite.

Now imagine meeting clients for the very first time and pitching all of that with a straight face.

My idea?

Let’s build a closet for the hammock and add a track system so it can actually swing. Do not worry about the opening. We will hide it behind a Murphy door. And the guest room part? Fully covered.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, thought I was a little cray cray. Still do. And honestly, that is fair.

But sometimes the ideas that sound the wildest are the ones that turn a space into something unforgettable.

After and before 👇👇

A bedroom where dreams can come true.

We didn’t just stop at new furniture and call it a day. We looked up and gave the ceiling the attention it deserved, layered in board and batten behind the bed, and topped it off with wallpaper that adds just the right amount of depth and texture. New window treatments, plush carpet, and thoughtfully chosen furniture completely shifted the feel of the room.

And the gallery wall? Honestly… to die for.
We even tackled function, closing off an open closet (not photographed) and adding a door so the space feels calmer, cleaner, and more intentional. The goal was simple: create a place to truly unwind.

Now? It feels less like a bedroom and more like a private resort retreat. Exactly how a space meant for rest should feel.
